Relocating to a new place is the most stressful part for any individual. What becomes even more stressful is relocating with your pets. They don’t have an idea as to what is going on in their house and to add up to this nervousness, comes unwanted noises and chatters all around. 1. Make an overnight kit

Prepare a kit one night before the moving day. This kit should include enough pet food, toys and grooming tools to sustain your pet for first few days of unpacking and keep them comfortable during their stay.

2. Talk to your vet

Tell your vet about moving to the new locality and also take the necessary prescriptions and medications with you while travelling, to make your journey stress free. Ask them if they know the address of any vet in your new locality.

3. Don’t involve your pet

Try not to involve your pet in any kind of action as far as possible. Keep them at a silent place or instead drop them at your friend’s place. Try to follow their daily routine and make sure not to change their routine so that they don’t detect any unusual activity happening in the house.

4. Take it slow

If you pack everything in your house at once then the pets are very likely to feel anxious. So to make it a habit for them start your packing a few days before and stretch it out to several days so that they get adapted to these changes.

5. Take your pet in your vehicle

If the journey is drivable try using your own vehicle instead of using state buses or public transport. This way, the pets will think it to be a normal road trip and the changing surrounding won’t disturb them much.

6. What if you have to fly?

If the distance is not drivable and the only way to reach there is by flight then ensure that you have taken the required documents with you. The rules and regulations regarding flying your pet is different, for different airlines. So try and abide by them to have a smooth relocation.

7. Set your new room before introducing your pet

Once you have reached your new house, try arranging the new house before taking your pet into them. Try to at least arrange one room so that your pet doesn’t feel uneasy.

8. Pet proofing your new index

Another important aspect of relocating to a new place is to pet-proof your new house. Tuck away electrical cords, plug up nooks where your dog can stuck itself. Ensure that all the windows have secure screens and confirm that no pest-control poison traps have been left anywhere in the house.

9. Explore the new area with them

After you have relocated to your new house give your pet a walk around the new locality so that the pet becomes familiar with the new area and get habituated to the surroundings.

10. Feed them with their favorite food

After a long hectic day of moving to a new house, feed your pets with their favorite food so as to make them happy and relaxed.
